Chaos and music in Dunstable

Last night Emma and I went into Dunstable to pick up a takeaway and found so many cars and people around the town.  There were hundreds of cars driving around and queueing to get into the White Lion Retail Park, to the point that the local police had to close off the road completely.  This then caused all the cars that were trying to get in to turn around and head back out of the town towards the motorway, with cars darting in between each other.  The reason for all the cars was apparently due to an organised cruise, where hundreds of people from all over the county/country headed into Dunstable to meet up.

When we finally got through all of this to the takeaway, there were just as many people on foot heading to the bandstand in Grove House Gardens.  It turns out there was a live rock festival taking place there, which I was completely unaware of.  The music could be heard across most of the town, as far away as the Luton border to the East.  It looked like it was a good show, but unfortunately I wasn't able to stop and watch it.

Ten-second update on my life

Not too much has been happening recently, which leaves me with very little to write about.  A quick summary of the main things:

• The new Moodle VLE being installed at work.
• My T-Mobile G1 is still not fixed.  Currently it is sitting in a T-Mobile repair centre in Milton Keynes (again).
• Emma's 21st birthday party was brilliant, I think everyone had an awesome time there.
• I am skint as usual, but plan to get down to the pub on Friday as it's been a while.
• Emma and I are looking to book a holiday, but haven't decided on where yet.  Initially it may be the Isle of Wight as we had such a good time there last year, but this will likely change.
• My car has no problems whatsoever.  Normally this wouldn't be news, but if you know of my old cars then you will understand why this is noteworthy!

T-Mobile G1 screen fault

I have had a T-Mobile G1 mobile phone since early July and about a month after receiving it a fault developed with the screen.  The phone itself was working, and I was able to answer calls and could hear it beep when I received text messages, but the screen would not turn on.  The buttons on the keypad would light up but the display would stay black.  Initially it happened rarely, and it would fix itself after a few minutes.  Then it got worse and more frequent, and I had to remove the battery to get it working.  Eventually even this wouldn't fix it, and the screen stayed black permanently.

I sent the phone to be repaired by T-Mobile and it returned with a note saying it had been given a "replacement flex" and a "replacement sticker."  The phone now worked correctly, but the following day the problem returned, as bad as it had been just before it was sent for repair.  T-Mobile would not replace the handset immediately, but offered to have it repaired at the higher-level repair centre (in the words of the support assistant: "I have never seen a phone leave there without being fully repaired").  I understand that they will likely receive a lot of handsets with relatively minor faults, but it is very annoying having to send it away twice for the same problem because the first-line repair centre did not repair it correctly.

Hopefully I will have more success the second time around.  If anyone else is having or has had a similar problem with their G1 please let me know in the comments, as when I initially had the problem I was unable to find anyone else with similar problems on the Internet.

Update:  My T-Mobile G1 has finally been repaired properly.
